High Expectations, Sensitive-Skin Reality

I wanted to love this so badly. Clarins is one of those brands that instantly takes me back to my childhood—watching the women around me get ready, feeling very classic luxury. Because of that (and the price tag), my expectations were honestly pretty high. I'll start with the good: the texture is be...autiful. It's rich, creamy, and very moisturizing-exactly what you'd expect from a night cream that promises firming. From a formulation standpoint, it feels high-end. But... I just couldn't use it on my face. The fragrance is extremely strong-pure perfume. Not a light scent, not subtle-full-on, old-school perfume. It instantly reminded me of a very mature, vintage fragrance, and there's no way around that. As someone who's acne-prone and very mindful about what I put on my skin (especially around my neck), I personally avoid heavily fragranced products. I just couldn't bring myself to rub something this perfumed onto my face or throat area. I've had similar experiences with other luxury brands-even a Dior serum-and it's always the same issue: gorgeous product, overpowering scent. If you love fragranced skincare and that classic, elegant perfume vibe, you might adore this. But if you're sensitive to fragrance or prefer clean, low-scent skincare, this one just isn't it.
