Mellow the yellow nail brightening treatment. This product advertises brightening of yellowing nails with an opalescent color. My nails starting this treatment weren't necessarily yellow but definitely dingy and dry. As an Esthetician of 6 years, I usually leave my nails bare and short. This ensures... my clients stay scratch free and nail chippings don't contaminated product. I had a break from giving hands on treatments and was able to try this product on both my hands and feet. My initial impression: The product is comfortable to hold thanks to the unique design of the bottle, unlike the cube bottles that we're used to. The bottle's design allows this to be ergonomically advantageous, It's was easier to hold and handle. I loved this because it decreased  the chance of spilling. I was really surprised by the smell of this treatments. I believe this was the first time I used a nail product that didn't give me a headache from all the fumes. I'll thank the 10 free (listed in the product info) for that. This product smells like a nail product but milder with a hint of lemon. My first attempt with Mellow the Yellow was on clean dry minimally prepped nails. I applied one coat to bare nails and let it dry completely, the brush made it easy to apply neatly. One coat with this treatment in my opinion definitely brighten my nails but just looked like a nice clear coat. I wanted more of an effortless french manicure so I went in for another coat. After applying a second coat it revealed the most beautiful pearlescent color. This treatment glows on my nail and is a great compliment to my skin. The shade of this treatment alone is amazing like your nails but better. I applied two coats to both my fingers and toes letting it dry in-between coats, then applied top coat and observed for the next 5 days. Day one on my finger nails started to chip and then began peeling by day three. By day four I could no longer look at them without the strong desire to pick the remaining treatment off. My toenails however looked great. On day five I noticed that the opalescent color had changed to a dusty rose hue, at that point I had to remove it from my fingernails. My second attempt lead me to a natural nail salon for a mani/pedi. I asked my nail tech to give my their sincere opinion on my nails. She said I had very healthy nails with high shine because of my oil production. This was a big contribution to why the treatment chipped on my nails almost immediately after application . So anyone that has good oil production on their nails might not get longevity without buffing the surface well. A tip my nail tech gave me was to apply a basecoat if I wanted to prolong the wear for aesthetic purposes. We went with two coats on clean bare nails so I could get the brightening affects of the treatment. This treatment dries very fast and allowed me to leave the salon 10 minutes earlier the I usually would. Overall, Mellow the yellow nail treatment is definitely going into my nail collection. The only con I can see is the color change. I definitely recommend it for people that have dull and yellowing nail or just like nails that look natural and luxurious. Not only will it brighten your nails instantly but will corrected the source of the yellowing. Pictures attached are the first and second application.
